This is Yolotli Counseling-healing with corazón (and real talk!)
Yolotli Counseling is named after the Nahuatl word yōllotl, meaning “heart.” The heart is where life, strength, and truth live—and that’s the energy this space is built on.
Yolotli exists to support young professionals—especially first-generation college students and children of immigrants in the BIPOC and Latinx communities—who are navigating stress, responsibility, identity, and the unspoken pressure to hold it all together.
Here, mental health isn’t separated from culture, family, or lived experience. We understand that healing doesn’t happen in a vacuum—it happens in the context of your relationships, your upbringing, your values, and the systems you’ve had to move through.
At Yolotli Counseling, we prioritize creating a space where you feel seen, understood, and accepted as your full self. A space where you don’t have to explain your culture, translate your experiences, or minimize your feelings to be taken seriously.
Our work is holistic and heart-centered. That means we honor the whole you—mind, body, history, identity, and nervous system—while offering practical support, honest conversations, and tools you can actually use in your day-to-day life. Healing here isn’t about perfection; it’s about growth, boundaries, self-trust, and learning how to show up for yourself with compassion.
Through connection, communication, vulnerability, and real talk, Yolotli Counseling supports you in building healthier relationships—with others and with yourself—so you can create a life that feels meaningful, aligned, and authentically yours.
One heart at a time. One person at a time.

El Corazón Behind Yolotli
Heeyyy! I’m Brenda P. Melgoza (MFT #89587)—the therapist and corazón behind Yolotli Counseling. I’m based in Southern California, and I specialize in supporting young professionals (ages 20–45) in the BIPOC and Latinx communities—especially children of immigrants and first-gen college students who are doing all the things and quietly carrying the weight of it.
If you’re juggling stress, anxiety, depression, codependency, or major life transitions and thinking, “I should be able to handle this… but I’m tired,” you’re in the right place.
My work centers on creating a space where you don’t have to perform, translate, or shrink yourself to be understood. Here, all parts of you are welcome.
In sessions, I’m warm, real, and a little no-BS. I’ll meet you exactly where you are—with empathy, cultural awareness, and a touch of humor—while gently (and sometimes boldly) nudging you toward the shifts you’re craving. I’m direct and solution-focused, always grounded in compassion. My goal is for you to feel seen, supported, and less alone, even when life feels like a lot.
Outside the therapy room, you’ll find me dancing, exploring new places and cultures, or lifting weights. I’m that friend with a color-coded planner, a love for a good book, and a hard yes to coffee or a meaningful meal with people I love.
At Yolotli Counseling, you’re not just another appointment on the calendar—you’re a whole human with a story that matters. Together, we’ll work on healing, setting boundaries, and creating a life that actually feels like yours.
If you’re ready to feel more grounded, connected, and empowered, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
